Here is your sign to buy a 6lb bag of boba and make homemade brown sugar boba milk! It is so easy and tastes just as good as what you buy in any boba shop. And is a lot cheaper! A win win!
If you’ve never had boba before, boba pearls are made from tapioca. They’re squishy and chewy and so yummy. They don’t have much of a taste, but for this recipe we are soaking them in a brown sugar syrup which adds some flavor and sweetness.
where to buy boba?
You can buy boba in most Asian grocery stores, but you can also buy it online. I like to buy this 6lb bag from Amazon (but it also comes in smaller sizes if you won’t go through that much boba!).
ingredients needed for brown sugar milk boba

- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boba
- 1/2 cup ice
- 3-4 cups milk
how to make brown sugar milk boba
This recipe is easy to make, and only takes 15 minutes! You’ll start by getting a pot of water to start boiling — this will be to cook the boba (and just follow your packaging instructions for how long to let them boil). Then, you’ll add the brown sugar and water to a pan over medium heat. Continually stir as the brown sugar starts to melt. The mixture will start to simmer and bubble, but it should never boil. If it starts boiling, turn down the heat immediately. Let the mixture simmer for 2-4 minutes. When the mixture has thickened slightly, turn off the heat.
The syrup will thicken even more as it cools, so be sure to take it off the heat when it isn’t too thick. Once the boba has finished cooking, drain it and add it to the syrup. Set the boba and syrup aside to cool off (if you are in a rush you can throw it in the fridge). Once it’s cooled, divide the boba between two cups. Top each with ice and milk. Stir to mix the syrup throughout the milk and enjoy!
