This cinnamon miso oatmeal is the perfect quick breakfast. It comes together in less than 15 minutes and is so flavorful, plus it will keep you full until lunchtime! The toppings can be customized however you want, but I love to add tahini, sliced banana, and plenty of sesame seeds.
why add miso?
If you’ve never used miso in your cooking before, it can seem a little odd and intimidating. But it is actually so wonderful and easy to use! Miso is fermented soybean paste that is extremely common in Japanese cooking. It has become more popular in all cooking and baking in the last few years. It is a perfect way to easily add saltiness and umami flavor to any dish, savory or sweet. And for these oats it does just that. It gives this oatmeal a wonderful slight savory flavor that keeps them from being too sweet.
what if i can’t find miso?
Miso can be found at any asian market, and at most grocery stores. It an also often be found at Trader Joe’s! But, if you can’t get your hands on any, you can leave it out. Just replace it with a generous pinch of salt and you’ll have delightful cinnamon oatmeal.

can i leave it over night in my fridge?
hi! if you are wanting to make an overnight oat without cooking them, i’d decrease the milk to 1 1/2 cups, instead of 2. then it should work out fine!
